green policy
Caring for and assisting the environment is high on the agenda at adverset. Every aspect of both production and administration is analysed regarding the impact on the environment. We are dedicated to continual improvements in our approach to minimising waste, encouraging recycling and improving our carbon footprint. The following systems and procedures are in place:
.: paper recycling
All paper waste, including printed offcuts is collected by 'Biffa', a member of the Environmental Services Association, under a controlled waste agreement. All other 'unprinted' offcuts are re-deployed as pads and in-house notelets wherever possible.
.: FSC accreditation
The Forestry Stewardship Council promotes 'product stewardship', the concept being that a company adopting their credentials is capable of tracking the ingredients in paper (or other pulpable items) back to a sustainable source.
The Forestry Stewardship Council is an international organization bringing people together to find solutions which promote responsible stewardship of the world’s forests.
adverset's policy insists that we have a sole provider agreement with a paper merchant who's main line products are FSC accredited. Thus, our 'house' papers, covering most of our main lines are all FSC accredited.
A 'Duty of Care' document issued by our supplier is available on request. The document covers Product Stewardship, WWF Forest and Trade Network, Climate Change, Carbon Footprint data gathering, Supply Chain Support, Environmental Management, Social Responsibility etc.
In order to fully cement our commitment to the concept of 'chain of custody', we are currently entering into an official FSC accredition programme ... details to follow.
.: ink waste and disposal
Through the use of plastic ink cartridges as opposed to traditional tins, wastage is totally eliminated and the sealed cartridges are disposed of environmentally, again through our disposal partners, 'Biffa'.
.: vegetable based inks
All adverset printed products are produced using vegetable based inks (as opposed to solvent based), wherever possible. Quality of image is not compromised.
.: chemical disposal
All chemical waste is collected by 'Waste Care' for recycling, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
.: printing plate recycling
All plates are collected by 'Waste Care', the aluminium from which is subsequently recycled.
.: processless plates
adverset are currently negotiating the installation of a new system which produces printing plates without a chemical process, totally eliminating the use of chemicals and the subsequent waste.
.: toner cartridges
All office toner cartridges are refurbished units which are recycled via collection from a local charity organisation.
.: energy watch
Power usage is carefully monitored throughout the premises and is a major consideration when purchasing new production equipment.
.: company cars
It is company policy that all cars deployed by adverset are diesel models. Each prospective vehicle is monitored at point of purchase/lease hire regarding emission values and environmental impact.
