supplying artwork files
>> software
All major software packages are supported, either on PC or Macintosh platforms.
>> graphics & images
Image files should be at least 75 dpi at 100% of the final output size, 100 dpi at 75% of the final output size or 400 dpi at 25% of the final output size.
For large graphics used in Pop-Up and Banner stands, create a single page at 25% of the full output size, we will set the points for splitting panels on Pop-Ups. Make sure “Facing Pages” is turned off.
In Photoshop please flatten all images and don’t use extra channels. All duotone and RGB images must be converted to CMYK. Save all images as EPS (encoding JPEG Maximum quality).
>> colour
Where black is used, please define it as cyan=20%, magenta=20%, yellow=20%, black=100%
Use Pantone “solid to process” guide for PMS references supplied for colour matching.
>> fonts
Any language fonts other than English should be converted to outlines. “Select all” in Illustrator & Freehand and set attributes to 9600 dpi. Please include both screen and printer (PostScript) versions of the fonts used in both the document and in any EPS files supplied in case changes are necessary. These are found in the system/fonts folder on your Mac or in the Windows/system folder on your PC.
Please include all source files, fonts & graphics with your work.
>> a word about PDFs
PDF is a universal file format preserving all of the fonts, formatting, colours and graphics of a source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. You can create a high quality, compact PDF file for high resolution output using Adobe Acrobat. PDF files should be distilled at the highest setting (press) and include all fonts used.
>> proofs
Please provide a PDF or printed colour proof with your files for the best results, as various colour output devices interpret colour differently.
>> sending us your files
FTP is now the most effective way to send your files. You can either use our global FTP address, or we can give you a personal address. Uploading your files through any FTP software, such as ‘FTP Explorer’ is quick and economical.
Please get in touch or e-mail us should you wish us to supply you with a personal FTP address.
>> The adverset global FTP address is:
IP: 213.171.193.5
Login: guestofadverset
Password: adverset
You may wish to use e-mail. We recommend that e-mail should not be used for files above 3mb.
Whilst we still have an ISDN line in use, this is now the least efficient way of submitting files and has pretty much been superceded by FTP.
>> Our ISDN number is: 01723 503814
If you happen to encounter problems, call our freephone number 0800 064 3883 and ask for production.
>> on CD, disk etc.
We support all data storage media, although CD or DVD are now the most popular.
