Personalisation is the key

Through digital wide format, we can print anything from a single copy up to a couple of hundred and we can make each print different. The opportunity to offer personalisation is therefore a no brainer.

For me, the most exciting personalisable product would be our printed wallpaper. The idea of being able to reproduce absolutely anything you desire on a feature wall in your home or office on a pukka textured or smooth wallcovering is wonderful. I have actually taken advantage of this myself and produced a lifesize image of an iconic music album cover on a chimney breast in my home. The fact that no-one else will have this image on wallpaper gives me a bit of a buzz and is the whole idea behind the concept of personalisation, meaning that the printed product is ‘personal to you and nobody else’. After all we all like to self-indulge!

The other big turn on seems to be our personalised gift wrap. We live in a world where people like to ‘do something different’ and the idea of personalising a gift by making a personal statement on the wrapping is becoming very popular. A recent example was where a couple wanted to personalise their Christmas wrapping paper – they provided us with some pictures of them taken when they were kids and then added their names with a personal greeting: ‘Best wishes from Steve & Leanne – We still believe in Santa!’, which I thought was a classic.

To sum up, print is becoming ever more diverse and as interesting and challenging as ever. I was even asked if we could print on wood the other day! ‘No’ I said, ‘but we can print onto a clear vinyl and mount it onto the wood’! Which proves that there is a print product to suit every occasion.
