A weekend of printing…

As a designer it’s good every now and then to get out of your comfort zone. It was with this in mind that I enrolled for a weekend lino printing workshop at Crescent Arts. I’d dabbled in it some years earlier at University, quite enjoyed it and was looking forward to having another go.

So I quickly produced as small sketch and copied it onto tracing paper and traced it onto the lino (soft cut -so no tedious waiting around for lino to warm up so it can be easily cut).

Then the cutting began… (and only 2 small injuries sustained!)

When the lino is cut it was time to ink up!

Then print it on this lovely old press they have at Crescent Arts.

When the black ink was dry, I repeated the whole process again on another piece of lino so i could add another colour.

It was extremely rewarding and enjoyable and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone to give it a try!
